Every human has ‘n’ number of wants. If for one happiness is living in a decent 2BHK house with his family, for another, happiness is living a life of luxury in a 3-storey apartment. Happiness is something which every living thing strives for whether human or animal. One can’t expect to live a normal life without being happy. And so somewhere happiness is related to humans becoming greedy. I hear you ask why. Let me explain.

Are you really motivated to succeed?

What drives you to work hard? What drives you to succeed in life? What is the one thing without which you wouldn’t be able to complete any task? The simple answer is – MOTIVATION. Motivation is the key to open any lock which acts as an obstacle for you to succeed. Without motivation, a person is like fish without water. Whether its completing a simple task or achieving something in life, motivation has a role to play all the time.

But the big question always remains – “How does one motivate himself / herself?”. There are three kinds of people – Those who are self motivated, those who need constant reminding by their family and peers and those who don’t care at all. The set of people who are self motivated are always in the race to stay at the top. They keep a track of their peers, friends, so called enemies and the likes. If they know that their peers are getting way ahead of them, they are always ready to go one up. The rat race is always on and they are an important part of it. This is more than enough to keep them on their toes.

The guy who didn’t bother to remember..!

He was the dude of the college. Whether it was his looks or the way he spoke to women; whether it was his personality or the aura he exhibited, there was something about him which attracted women of all kinds. There were hundreds who tried for just one chance to get to talk to him. There were others who wanted to spend some time with him over
coffee. And there were some who even went to the extent of wanting to touch him just to know if he was for real. It wasn’t always like this.

He had come as a shy and introvert guy who never even spoke to women let alone befriend them or have a girlfriend. His life revolved around studies, classes, assignments and the likes. But when he faced rejection for the first time in life, he realized that he had not bothered about creating a personality. He didn’t have a sense of style or a persona that people craved for. He didn’t know how to talk properly to anyone let alone his classmates. And so he revamped himself completely so much so that the girls began to go weak in their knees waiting to see him everyday.

And he loved every bit of the attention he got. If today it was one girl, tomorrow it was another. He had spoken to so many women and dated quite a few among them. Relationships with the most interesting ones lasted for a few months while some lasted for days. There were so many women in his life that he forgot their names or what they spoke about. There were times when he would say the same mushy things to many of them without even taking notice.

He had became a sort of casanova who didn’t care who he dated or who he spoke to. And the same had become of the rest of his life as well. Earlier, he was very careful in not hurting friends. But now he knew that to succeed in life, one had to make compromises even if it was leaving friends or loved ones. Sometimes he forgot promises made to loved ones while at other times he forgot how his friends helped him in their earlier times. He had forgotten that love and friendship was also important in his search for success and money.

But then he didn’t bother to remember because he had faced rejection! And rejection was something he couldn’t take..

That eerie night..

Since he was in a support project, his work timings differed every two weeks. So for two weeks a month it was a 9am – 6pm shift while for the other two weeks it was a 9pm – 6am shift. He was a very hardworking, honest and dedicated resource. Whether it was being asked to work on weekends or on public holidays or even spend late hours, he never refused. That night there wasn’t much work at office. All his teammates had left by 1am. But he thought to spend some more time in learning a few more concepts which sounded confusing to him. By 3am he packed his stuff and set out to leave.

My first experience of a cricket match in a stadium

Indian Premier League Season 6, Match No 7 – Sun Risers Hyderabad vs Royal Challengers Bangalore

Stadium – Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal (Hyderabad)

Date – 7th April 2013

Team supported – Though I am a big fan of Gayle, it was surely Hyderabad that night.

This is the 6th season of the IPL. But this was the first ever cricket match (any format) I watched live in a stadium. As is the case with Hyderabad, there was total chaos on the roads, hours before the match began. People had parked their vehicles where they found some space. The roads were choc-a-bloc with trucks, buses, cars, scooters, three wheelers and what not. It seemed as though everyone was heading for the stadium. Though we were about 10 minutes late, there was still quite a lot of chaos at the entry gates.

My first feeling as I walked into the stands – It was reminiscent of the scene from Kai Po Che when Ali comes out to bat. With over 40000 people yelling at the top of their voices, it felt like one was entering a cauldron. For a moment, I just looked around at the stands, at the people and at the field. It all looked so surreal, so beautiful, so awesome. I could just wonder on what it must feel for a cricketer to make his debut in front of such a vociferous crowd.

Deserted at the altar..

Since the time a girl is small, she dreams about her wedding day. I always expected my man to come on a horse as my knight in shining armour and take me away into his world bringing me all the happiness and peace. Though that was a bit too much to expect, I still wanted to be loved, to be happy and to have someone in my life who could pamper my wants and desires.

We had met in the most bizarre of circumstances on a flight to Lucknow. He was traveling for a business meeting while I was on my regular job as a Lead Flight Attendant. Somehow we began talking, exchanged numbers and the rest is history. Though our jobs didn’t allow us to meet that often, we always made it a point to stay in touch in any way possible; sometimes through ‘Whatsapp’ and other times through ‘Skype. In just over a year, we had grown so fond of each other that all our talks revolved around love, life, ‘how I would settle with his family’ and the likes. Though it seemed a tad too fast, I was loving every bit of it. He truly loved and pampered me unlike the earlier guys in my life who were either too scared to commit or just didn’t want things to go to the next step.

When that pinkslip is in the pipeline..

She worked really hard to impress her bosses. Whether it was working hours on end at office or taking work home, she did much more than what was required of her. Most of the time, she went beyond her line of work to learn more about what her teammates in other units were doing. Teamwork, dedication, determination were some of the words which defined her among her peers as well as bosses.

Innocence lost in translation!

She was sweet and cute. She seemed happy all the time. It’s always said that kids have a smiling face and bring cheer to everyone around them. Since the time she was a little girl, she kept everyone occupied. Whether it was her parents or her cousins, everyone laughed and enjoyed being around with her.

Sometimes she went and cut the curtains with a pair of scissors or at other times she hid the shoes of people just so that they go about frantically searching for them. Naughtiness and her went hand in hand. Though it was a task for everyone to handle her naughty antics, they still loved to see the smile on her cute little face. It was like everyone wanted to do something just to see her happy.

Mind vs Heart – Who will win the battle?

She was dressed in a simple pink salwar with matching accessories to boot. Her face was devoid of any make up which made her look natural. Her eyes seemed to be searching for someone really important. And as she went on, her natural smile transformed into a sexy pout. Her hair was neither curly nor straightened; somewhere in between. She was different. She didn’t believe in using chemicals to make herself look good.

Seeing her, my mind and heart started running in circles. And thus began their conversation –

Heart – “Who is she? How is she here? Whatever it is, she looks stunning. She’s like a dream come true.”

Mind – “Get a grip dude. She must be having a strong reason to be on a train like this. Maybe, she is waiting for her husband.”

Heart – “Husband? Are you crazy? She’s so young and beautiful. She must be anything but married.”

Mind – “Look at her. She’s so simple. Do you think she is your type? You are crazy about all the rich and fancy females at work. She is anything but the ones you keep running after.”

Writing to me is… Passion. Habit. Obsession.

Source: http://www.aacc.edu/creativewriting/image/writing-2.jpg

If one writes to put thoughts into words, another writes so that emotions can be given a platform. If one writes to make people aware in the society, another writes to bring a smile on someone’s face. Whatever be the reason, writing has the potential of bringing change and making people sit up and take notice of things they may have not heard of at an earlier point in time. It has the capability of changing people’s lives for the good or the bad in a matter of minutes.

So what does writing mean to me? If I come to think of it, writing defines my life in five different ways –
