Short Story 7 – The dark secret of the grasslands!

“Is this the same country which people routinely trash when discussing about tourism?” Sam seemed awestruck by the beauty all around.

“Yeah that’s the question running through my head as well.” Ginny had heard the same from her friends back in Auckland.

“From the greenery to the valley, from the wildlife safaris to the unspoilt beaches, this place is paradise rediscovered.”

“Yes it truly feels like. God! They scared us to death while departing. Thankfully we kept our foot down.” Over the last few days, they had realized that this place was nothing like what had been described by their friends.

“Who knows; maybe they assumed that we were going to a concentration camp rather than an adventure trip.” Both of them had a hearty laugh.

Sam and Ginny were not your regular couple who meet in a college and fall in love. They actually never worked in an office at all. Whether it was rock climbing, rappelling, bungee jumping, paragliding or any other adventure sport – both of them were always game for challenges. And it was during one of these adventures that they happened to meet.

Flight Simulator Kuwait – The closest I came to flying!

There is a joke that this Flight Simulator franchise would be offering certifications to show that people have actually flown a flight if it hadn’t been for the fake pilot cases in India. But on a different note, Flight Simulator does give you the ultimate experience of piloting a Boeing 737 airliner.

TAKE YOUR PICK!! Yusuf Pathan: 123* at Bangalore against Kiwis vs 105 at Centurion against RSA

People said he couldn’t translate his domestic form to international success. People said that he can’t play the short ball. People said that he doesn’t have the temperament for the big stage. Others said he is a player who can hit only local tracks and that’s the reason he has been selected for the Cricket World Cup 2011. Many even said that he can play well only in the IPL. But with two violent centuries in the past 2 months along with a couple of 50s has all but sealed his place in the World Cup team and shut the mouths of his detractors for some time to come. The two centuries couldn’t be more different.

Movie Review – I Hate Luv Storys

I Hate Luv Storys (IHLS) stars Sonam Kapoor and Imran Khan. It is directed by Punit Malhotra and produced by Karan Johar. This is the first time both these actors are working in a Karan Johar production. The movie is especially important for Sonam who flopped miserably in Saawariya and Delhi 6 in terms of looks as well as her acting. Imran had a good start with Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na but came back to earth when Kidnap bombed.

IHLS is one of those cliched love stories where the girl loves the guy, the guy doesn’t believe in love and then falls in love with the girl by the end of the story. The story is actually as wafer-thin as that if you may want to call it.

But what makes it different is the treatment. The pairing of Imran and Sonam is really as fresh as a daisy. Sonam looks fabulous. She has never ever looked even 10% of this before. For the girls, Imran is as usual a treat to watch. One thing is for sure; Karan Johar makes his actors look amazing despite anything else. Their acting skills are nothing too great to look out for. Actually none of the side actors except Imran’s friend have much to do. Interestingly, Imran doesnt seem to know how to dance. Check out the title song for that ;) . All the songs of the movie are melodious. Many of them are of chartbuster variety. My personal favourites are Bahara, Bin tere (All three versions), Jab Mila Tu and Sadka. The locations are amazing – interestingly this time its New Zealand and not Switzerland.

In the end, it all boils down to what you expect from the movie. IHLS never promised an amazing storyline or tried to impress the critics. It project itself as a simple youthful feel good movie about love and relationships. And truthfully speaking it does deliver on that front. Yes, probably the cliches like referring to DDLJ, K2H2, KAANK etc did get a bit too much. It did get a bit melodramatic at many places.

But all in all a sweet and romantic movie meant to be watched with the person you love – AT LEAST ONCE! You will surely feel good when you come out of the theater.

Rating – 2.5/5
